Two Mountain Winery Benefit Chalk Party Helps Raise Money for Pegasus
The warm, sunny day on Saturday, June 14th could not have been better suited for a fantastic chalk art party at Two Mountain Winery. Wine tasters and supporters of the Pegasus Project came out for the day's events, taking part in a friendly chalk art contest to benefit the Pegasus Project. Alice Macias, the winner of the event, will have her drawing adorn next year's bottle of Rosé wine.
With wine sales and donations from the day's events, Two Mountain raised over $1,600 to support Pegasus' therapeutic riding program!
New Indoor Riding Facility Completed!
A major source of activity at the Tumbleweed Ranch has been the construction of the much-anticipated indoor arena. This new facility will allow Pegasus to provide year-round services to its riders and features an indoor riding arena, six horse stalls, a tack room, staff office space, a conference room, a viewing gallery, and indoor plumbing! The progress that is made with our riders during the seasonal riding sessions (riders being able to hold their head up to trot, improvements in strength and range of motion from sitting on the back of a horse, increased verbal communication in leaps and bounds) is amazing and to just stop, wait, and start all over again in six months was disappointing. Having a comfortable environment to ride in during the cold of winter or during the excessive heat of summer will produce more consistent and constructive time for riding lessons and therapy.
This is a very exciting time for Pegasus, full of numerous opportunities. It is because of the families who have shown us their commitment to this program and the incredible results that we have seen in our riders over the last five years that make this the adventure of a lifetime! We currently provide over 240 individual lessons per eight week session and the completion of the indoor arena will give us the opportunity to share this program with more in our community. To reach and touch more lives with this very special activity is a dream that we are now able to turn into a reality.
